About Sendai Jiu-Jitsu Academy
‘Sendai Jiu-Jitsu Academy’ is a training center of ‘Axis Jiu-Jitsu Academy’, the Japanese branch of Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
‘Axis Jiu-Jitsu Academy’ was started by the first Japanese practitioner awarded a black belt by Rickson Gracie himself. Axis has produced 5 world champions and has held countless titles within Japan.
‘Sendai Jiu-Jitsu Academy’ does not discriminate against age, gender, race, experience, etc. All are welcome to come and train Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with us!
Lessons are conducted by our instructor who trained at the Axis Headquarters in Tokyo. While living in Sendai, you can receive top quality training and have all the newest techniques taught directly to you.
Practice Facility
Our practice space is filled with ocean blue mats, which are made from the best material to cushion your fall. We disinfect the mats on a regular basis, so all you have to worry about is enjoying practice! The walls are also cushioned, to create a completely safe practice environment.
We also have a lounge next to the practice area, which you are welcome to use in order to observe a lesson.
There is a shower room available for use after practice, as well as a washlet toilet with a separate bathroom for women.

Sendai Jiu-Jitsu Academy’s Ideology
True strength is found within grace. True grace is found within strength.
My name is Noriyuki Kakuta, of Sendai Jiu-Jitsu Academy. In 2005, I joined the Japanese branch of Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, the Axis Jiu-Jitsu Academy. When I first started, I was shocked. Someone half my size handled me easily. I still remember how even though it felt rough to be beaten, I had so much fun.
From then on, I fell in love with the beauty of Jiu-Jitsu and got motivated to train more and more. Through Jiu-Jitsu, I truly felt that kindness comes from strength, and that strength comes from kindness.
Sendai Jiu-Jitsu Academy’s main branch, Axis Jiu-Jitsu Academy, taught me the principle that grace and strength go hand in hand. Within the Axis system, that principle was apparent in the respect that everyone had for their training partners.
The ideals of Axis Jiu-Jitsu Academy laid the foundation for our academy’s ideology: “True strength is found within grace. Truce grace is found within strength.”
This means that strength is meaningless without the grace in which to direct it. However, kindness and grace alone is not enough to protect yourself and loved ones.
Our goal with this academy, is to create a friendly space where one can refine both their strength and their grace, alongside others who respect and represent those ideals.

③Picture (H40mm×W30mm – Resume style photo – x2)
④Bank or Post Office Payment information form
※If you do not have a bank account, you can pay in cash at the beginning of each month.
※The initial fee will be for the first two months (If joining part way through the month, it will be a prorated fee).
From the 3rd month, the monthly fee will be transferred from your account on the 27th of every month.
※If you are underage (under 20 in Japan), you must receive a parent/guardian’s signature on your application form.

Notification Required for:

②Prolonged recess (Membership fees can be paused during recess if prior notification is given)

④Other changes (Personal info, phone number, bank account, etc.)
※Cancellation requires a 1 month notice.
※Recess requires a 10 day notice before the time of your recess.
※Cancellation/Recess require you to provide notice in person.
※Your cancellation will not be completed until all outstanding payments have been paid in full.
Cancellation/Recess cannot be done by mail or phone
※If you do not cancel/recess your membership, payments will continue to be transferred from your account.

Private Class entails a one-on-one lesson with the instructor.
You must reserve these classes in advance, so please speak with the instructor if you are interested.
Basic Class（Basic）
This class focuses on Gracie Jiu-Jitsu basic techniques.
Class length is 60 minutes.
Recommended for beginners.
Advance Class（Advance）
This class focuses on Gracie Jiu-Jitsu intermediate techniques.
(All experience levels are welcome to participate.)
NO－GI Sparring
No-gi sparring for 30 minutes (please wear rashguard and fight shorts/leggings)
Kids Class（KIDS）
This class is aimed at children, ages 6-12.
Strengthening one’s spirit, self-defense, respect, etc. are all goals for this class.
Free Time（F）
Free time to use the mats for reviewing techniques, sparring, cooldowns, etc.
※The practice facility will open 30 minutes prior to each class.
※The academy will be closed every Friday.
※The academy may also close for other reasons (training seminars, tournaments, etc) at the instructor’s discretion.
